Club News: August 2026
On 23rd July, David Sutherland from the Rotary Club of Marlow Thames, came to talk to our Club members about Aquabox, a volunteer lead charity and community project originally set up by a Rotary Club in Derbyshire providing safe water and humanitarian aid to those in desperate need. 1,000 children, under 5 years old, die every day across the world from water borne diseases and the filter provided in an Aquabox is life changing and lifesaving. The water filter is a handheld, hand driven portable pump with very fine filters changing water contaminated with life threatening diseases such as cholera, typhoid and amoebic dysentery into safe pure, clean drinking water. The Aquabox Aid Boxes costs £150 and contains filters together with shelter materials and tools, cooking utensils, educational materials and toys are sent out all over the world. The Rotary were asked to bring any clean towels we had to the meeting, some of which would be used to help protect the units in transit and some for use by the recipients. We had a very generous amount of donated towels and we all helped David to pile the bags into his car. If you would like to donate to this remarkable charity, please go to www.aquabox.com. See the attached photo of what a box contains.
We are not having a speaker in August but are ‘scattering’ to other Rotary Clubs in the area to share our ideas, learn and be inspired by other clubs and enjoy the fellowship of our fellow Rotarians.
We continue to support local schools and children and it is great to see that our donation to St James and Ebrington School for a reading arch is now in place and being enjoyed by children.

In September we’ll launch our new website and are excited to tell you about upcoming events. A few dates to add to your diary now!
23rd October – Charity Bingo night in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance at the Round of Gras. A fun evening with great prizes for a fantastic charity. Find out more on Facebook events and ring the pub to book a table for a great evening. Visit our website mid-September for more details

Finally, we are always looking for new likeminded people to join the Club and support our activities in the local community, as you can see from our updates the events, talks, and monthly meetings are varied, social and engaging. If you are interested and would love to know more please email chippingcampdenrotaryclub@gmail.com for an informal chat (probably in one of our amazing local pubs or cafes!)
